Green Bay, WI – June 17, 2008, VELOCITIE Integration, Inc. announced a contract awarded by the Integrys Energy Group (Integrys) to provide consulting for its Work & Asset Management (WAM) GIS Design/Integration project. This project involves the implementation of systems to manage the lifecycle of assets and the activities performed to construct, maintain, and regulate them. The integration includes software from the Logica ARM suite of work management tools, ITRON’s LD-Pro design tools, the Navigate mobile mapping solution from Gatekeeper Systems, ESRI’s ArcGIS suite, and GE Smallworld GIS.
Integrys, a diversified energy company, selected VELOCITIE to assist with the implementation of various aspects of the project and to augment its project team. VELOCITIE will supply design and implementation services to develop over 20 interfaces needed to integrate GIS into the work management process. In addition, GIS application enhancements necessary for smooth application transitions will be developed. The rationale for the project is to eliminate legacy mainframe applications, reduce manual processes, and improve data accuracy and consistency.
Integrys is retiring several legacy IT systems to implement the Work and Asset Management system for use at all six regulated Integrys utilities. With WAM, the entire process from initiation to reporting will be automated, and will allow more time in the field for overseeing operations and better management of regulatory compliance activities.
Since 2001, VELOCITIE consultants have supported Integrys GIS projects involving integrations with Smallworld, LD Pro, FAAR software, Intergraph’s Inservice Outage Management software, and several other end-user applications at Wisconsin Public Service in Green Bay.
Bart Koenig, President of VELOCITIE, commented: “Integrys is a pioneer in Enterprise GIS and recognizes the benefits of integrating GIS with its engineering and operational systems to reduce data redundancy and improve access to its asset information. We are very pleased that Integrys chose VELOCITIE to assist them with this initiative.”
Cynthia VanEffen, Integrys Application Development Leader for GIS, stated: “We are excited to have VELOCITIE provide expert consulting for the WAM GIS Design/Integration project, as they have served Integrys very well during GIS related engagements over the years. We chose to partner again with VELOCITIE whose breadth and depth of experience in the industry will help ensure a successful implementation of the WAM project.”
