Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

Greenbelt, MD - May 7, 2008 – ASRC Management Services, in coordination with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA FAS), has selected October 20-21, 2008, as the dates for the 3rd Annual Resourcesat-1 Data Seminar. The seminar will feature a variety of presentations on applications and specifications of image data collected by the AWiFS and LISS sensors aboard the Indian Resourcesat-1 satellite.

To pre-register or to learn about sponsoring an event in association with the seminar or exhibitor opportunities, contact Sherry Loy at Global Marketing Insights (216-525-0600 or sherryloy@globalinsights.com). The seminar will be held at the Greenbelt Marriott in Greenbelt, Md., and is hosted by ASRC Management Services. Day one will open with a half day session of presentations by satellite vendors and satellite service providers focused specifically on the federal civilian sector needs followed by a reception, and Day two will provide presentations by government specialists on their current use of Resourcesat data.

ASRC Management Services (ASRC MS) has exclusive rights in the U.S. for satellite imagery collected by the Resourcesat-1 and Cartosat-1 satellites. These rights were granted to ASRC MS by ANTRIX Corp. Ltd, the commercial arm of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Under the agreement, ASRC MS has also become the sole ground station partner for ANTRIX in the U.S. to receive data collected over the U.S. in near real-time.

The agreement marks the expansion of a successful 3-year cooperative relationship which started in 2004 when ASRC MS began supporting the use and integration of imagery from Resourcesat-1 within the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Global Analysis, Foreign Agricultural Services, International Production Assessment Division, which is one of the largest users of Resourcesat data in the world.
