NAVTEQ held ‘Directions 2008’, Company’s 1st Business Fair in Korea

Chicago, IL - May 20, 2008 - NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, held the ‘Directions 2008’, company’s first business fair in Korea on May 15. ‘Directions’ is NAVTEQ’s business fair for the customers and developers, held in major cities around the world. Directions 2008 in Seoul, held at the Convention Hall of Hotel Shilla was well attended with more than 150 participants of Korean customers.
By hosting the Direction 2008, NAVTEQ presented the company’s business strategy and technology vision to Korean customers and tried to find ways to cooperate closely with Korean companies.
This year’s attendees from NAVTEQ included Rich Shuman(Senior Vice President, APAC Sales), Patrick Suh(Director of Sales, Korea), Dean VonBank(Vice President and General Manager, Vehicle Sales), Rafay Khan(Vice President, Business Development APAC). Judson Green, CEO of NAVTEQ also presented his video message to Korean partners in the opening session, showing his global business vision with worldwide partners.
This event was set up not only to explain NAVTEQ’s technology roadmaps and supporting programs for customers and developers but also to giving thanks to Korean them. About ten months ago, NAVTEQ announced that Picture Map International (PMI), which had functioned as a wholly owned subsidiary of NAVTEQ since 2005, would operate under the name NAVTEQ.
Besides the celebration and presentation events NAVTEQ showed the innovative dynamic positioning technology and NAVTEQ? maps. Korean partners such as POINT-I, GEOTEL and CITUS also exhibited location-based services (LBS) and devices using NAVTEQ maps.
The South Korea database currently features 100% coverage of the navigable road network including more than 150,000 Km of road, almost 500,000 unique field collected Points of Interest, alert features such as speed traps and school zones and visual features such as topography, 3D landmarks and intersections and aerial imagery.
Rich Shuman explained NAVTEQ’s accurate high quality map data, investment to database, and innovation on his presentation. “NAVTEQ will be the true supporter for customer and developer” he said.
NAVTEQ’s busisness fair for the Korean customers and developers, will be held every year.
