Abstracts Sought for Two URISA Conferences

Park Ridge, IL - URISA is currently seeking abstract submissions for two of its specialty conferences, both taking place in Providence, Rhode Island in 2009.

Abstract submissions are due on December 5, 2008 for URISA’s 2nd GIS in Public Health Conference, taking place June 5-9, 2009 in Providence. The Program Committee encourages submissions in one or more of the following general categories (examples of topics within each category are included online). The committee invites examples of GIS and spatial analysis in these various areas, including case studies, empirical analysis, etc.

• All-Hazard Preparedness and Disaster Response
• Environmental Health
• Disease Surveillance and Epidemiology
• Hospitals and Healthcare
• Healthy Communities and Social Factors in Health
• Maternal and Child Health
• Public Policy and Health Advocacy
• Models, Methods and Spatial Data Infrastructure

URISA and the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) are encouraging abstract submissions for the 2009 URISA/NENA Addressing Conference, taking place in Providence, Rhode Island, August 4-6, 2009. Abstract submissions will be accepted through January 12, 2009 within these general program categories:

• Addressing Basics, Coordination, and Standards
• Emergency Response and 9-1-1
• Case Studies of GIS Integration with Public Safety
