Cities Revealed Thermal Surveys Become the Hot New Trend for the Winter
Printer Friendly versionPrinter Friendly

Cambridge - The GeoInformation® Group, publishers of Cities Revealed aerial photography (www.citiesrevealed.com), announces that the Thermal survey flying season has opened with great success. Using the latest digital thermal imaging camera the company has already received commissions from ten local authorities.

All ten of the councils, including a number London Boroughs, have ordered thermal surveys for the entirety of their respective local authority, covering an area of over 1000 sq km.

Using a new state of the art thermal imaging system that is linked to the aircraft GPS Cities Revealed Thermal surveys are a spatially accurate product. In addition this new system provides actual temperatures (with a temperature sensitivity of 0.01 °C), versus relative temperature e.g. hot or cold, and takes into account atmospheric absorption, taking aerial thermal surveys to a new level of accuracy. The quality of these next generation thermal surveys provides confidence to make better informed decisions and is a significant improvement on older technology.

An Energy Strategy Officer from one of the London Borough clients commented, “…accurate energy efficiency mapping is becoming increasingly important to local authorities in meeting their statutory obligations and thermal mapping could be used to target energy efficiency improvements to those areas that most need them.”

The GeoInformation Group are keenly aware that often there is a requirement for a business case to be presented within local authorities to commission such surveys. In order to assist councils to achieve this The GeoInformation Group have developed a Local Government Climate Change section on the Cities Revealed website. This information rich resource includes a Thermal Survey Business Case, written in conjunction with a local government client. www.citiesrevealed.com/industrysolutions/localgovernment/climate

Thermal surveys and mapping are the ideal solution toward building an energy efficient future.
