Dudley Metropolitan Borough Commissions Very High Resolution Cities Revealed Aerial Imagery Survey

Cambridge – The GeoInformation® Group, publishers of Cities Revealed aerial photography (www.citiesrevealed.com), announce today, that it has been contracted to provide a 5cm aerial survey covering an area of 208 sq km to Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council (MBC) in 2009. Dudley MBC were the first local authority in the UK to purchase a 5cm resolution survey from Cities Revealed in 2006.

Cities Revealed aerial imagery captured at 5cm is of an exceptional quality, providing a highly detailed view of the world with road markings and street furniture clearly visible. The 2009 survey for Dudley MBC will supersede the 10 cm aerial survey the council is currently using.

Brian Higgs, Corporate GIS Unit Manager at Dudley MBC, commented, ”Since the first 5cm aerial survey we commissioned camera technology has improved and we are anticipating the resultant imagery to be of noticeably higher clarity and quality than we currently hold. It is important to Dudley MBC to have the most current and accurate aerial imagery available. By commissioning this survey from Cities Revealed the council will have an excellent geographic information resource from which we can work more effectively. The 5cm imagery will enhance the Cities Revealed archive portfolio we hold at the council.”

Dudley MBC is a long-term user of Cities Revealed geographic information and aerial imagery. The authority has a comprehensive archive of both Cities Revealed Modern and Historic aerial imagery. In addition the council has purchased a wide range of Cities Revealed geographic databases, including: Land Use, Building Class, and Building Heights.
