The City of Oviedo, FL Selects GTG to Implement GIS Software Solution

GOLDSBORO, NC –  Geographic Technologies Group (GTG) is pleased to announce that the City of Oviedo, Fla. has procured GIS software from GTG. The City of Oviedo has purchased Geo Blade Web, a public Web application that allows citizens to access GIS information via the internet.

Geo Blade Web, a highly customizable Web application, gives the public the ability to access a variety of information about their community through any given number of websites set up by a local government organization. These sites can include public safety information (crime statistics and sex offender information), tax centric information (property and assessment values), as well as other information such as parks and recreation data, voting precincts, school systems, bus routes, hospital locations, and land marks. Since this information is available through a Web interface, citizens can access it 24/7 from any computer with Internet access.

Geo Blade Web gives the public the ability to quickly gather information about their community with a few simple clicks. Along with the standard GIS functionality, Geo Blade Web contains a sophisticated toolset which includes: querying both spatial and attribute data, reporting capabilities, navigational tools, spatial analysis, and report generation. Geo Blade Web provides an easy-to-use administrative tool which allows for generation of customized searches, popup map tips, and consumption of Web services.

“Oviedo understands that better serving the public is critical during these lean economic times,” said Curt Hinton, CEO of GTG. “They have focused their GIS efforts on the return-on-investment of the technology. GTG is excited about the public Web portal, and we are working with the City on the enterprise-wide adoption of GIS.”
