GeoCommunity staff were in attendance at AU and is pleased to provide some insight to GeoCommunity readers with the following contributions from Vegas.
An estimated 3,000 Autodesk users were in Las Vegas, NV at the MGM Grand From Dec. 2-6 to attend the 10th annual
Autodesk University (AU). Autodesk Chairman and CEO Carol Bartz (also celebrating 10 years with the company)
emphasized to those in attendance that in order to stay competitive in today's market, users must embrace
the digital design data revolution. The event would serve as the forum for Autodesk's "top guns" to
describe how the company and it's solutions would lead the industry in digital data design and eventually
to the paperless design process.

In her address to the crowd, Carol Bartz carefully spelled out the company's philosiphy and highlighted the solutions Autodesk is presenting to help users remain competitive. Key points that attendees were presented with:
- Online collaboration and data sharing is a priority
- Prediction... there is no future in analog data
- Digital design data is crucial... once data is no longer digital it is no longer intelligent
- Online hosting and collaboration is key to streamline operations and become more competitive
- Autodesk architects are developing smarter products to make the jobs of users easier and more productive
- All industries will be talking about (and using) models in the future
- Creating smart design data is a crucial and small way to ensure your survival
- Companies relying on paper will not be competitive
- The next 10 years... more focus on utilizing networked information
