ArcReader
What is it? - ArcReader is a free product enabling anyone to view and print map files (in this case,
published map files or PMFs). Think of a PMF as the mapping (ESRI) equivalent of a PDF.
Now anyone with the ArcReader can access maps created with ArcGIS. For ArcGIS users, you can easily create a PMF
file by using an optional ArcGIS Publisher extension that converts your map files (MXDs) to PMF.
What is a PMF? - According to ESRI, Published map files (PMF) contain instructions about the location
and symbology of data layers (rendering rules, scale dependencies,
etc.) including geodatabase connectivity, Internet connections,
and Geography Network layers. Published map files are viewable through the ArcReader product.

The ArcReader environment looks much like ArcGIS
