In the days of old Germany, the brewing season began with the fall harvest of barley and hops and continued only through the cold months of the year, due to lack of refrigeration. The last brewing happened in March. Any beer left at harvest time had to be consumed before the new beer arrived. The last Saturday of September through the first Sunday of October was designated as the time to drink up all of last season's beer. It officially became Oktoberfest in 1810 and continues today throughout the world as a traditional Harvest Festival. (Source: ESRI.com) 192 years later on July 11 at the International ESRI User Conference, ESRI carried on this historical tradition with a colorful harvest festival. A great time was had by all as ESRI users, business partners, staff and their families took in the annual Thursday night Conference party in South Embarcadero Park, San Diego, CA.
