The GeoCommunity has responded to the Community's demand for hard to find US Presidential election data. Here you will find the only freely available GIS data coverage containing detailed ballot counts from the 2000 Presidential election. You may freely download or use this data provided that you cite The Geocommunity, www.GeoComm.com as the source. Any use or publication of this data, or analysis of this data must cite GeoComm.com as the developer and source. Please refer any comments to editor@geocomm.com.

  • (11/28) Adjusted "winner" column for specific counties in New England states (NH, CT, MA, MI, VT). No individual county totals are available for these States. Also made corrections in Minnesota for data mix-ups.
  • (11/27) Added Florida certified re-counts
  • (11/20) Corrected Whatcom County, WA.
  • (11/20) Corrected New York (Gore, Bush values switched)
  • (11/20) Corrected Alaska (Gore, Bush values switched)
  • (11/19) Updated counts for New Mexico

    About The Data:
    Please note that a careful QC of the data has not been performed yet. The source data provided by USA Today was in a very inconsistent format. US Presidential election results (by county). Use this spatial data coverage to analyze the data for yourself. Please note, county level ballot counts are not available for Connecticut, Main, Mass., Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Vermont - State results are provided for these areas. This data product has a number of additional demographic attributes, as well as a breakdown by candidate of the percentage of vote he/she received per county. The following graphics are examples of the type of analysis that can be conducted using the data

    Florida Results:
    Jon T. Kilpinen, Dept. of Geography & Meteorology, Valparaiso University has provided a dataset of Florida election results. Data includes preliminary results of the FL Senatorial election, voter registration information, and rejected ballots (in additionto the county-level presidential votes).
