SPACE.COM to Cover NASA Endeavour Earth Mapping Mission Live; Site to Feature Japanese Language Section
NEW YORK, January 28, 2000 - SPACE.COM will feature minute-by-minute coverage of NASA's Endeavour STS-99 Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM). www.space.com coverage of the 11-day mission includes live video Webcasts of pre-launch, ascent and orbit activities; a special Japanese language section; live countdown and launch reports, EarthKAM photos; live chats; SPACE.COM's SkyWatcher's Guide; mission milestone countdown clocks; breaking news stories and daily feature articles.

The shuttle Endeavour is scheduled to blast off from the Kennedy Space Center on Monday, January 31 at 12:47 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and land at 4:55 p.m. on February 11. The goal of Endeavour's international crew
  • which includes Commander Kevin Kregel; Pilot Dom Gorie; and Mission Specialist's Janet Kavandi, Janice Voss, Japanese Space Agency astronaut Mamoru Mohri, Ph.D., and European Space Agency's Gerhard P.J. Thiele
  • is to generate the most precise 3-D map of Earth that has ever been created.
