Canadians working in the U.S. and Obtaining a TN Visa

By Glenn Letham
I'm going to the border... any advice?
  • Dress Nicely (but don't overdo it!)
  • Be sure you have all your documents (triple check this before hand)
  • Call in advance to ensure a TN official will be there
  • Wait patiently
  • Don't speak unless spoken to
  • Answer questions as briefly as possible (yes sir, no mam, etc...)
  • Bring exact change in the proper currency (ie. $56 US)
  • Don't freak out if you are denied. You can always try again in a few days or go to another crossing.
  • Bite your tongue and don't get flustered... the border crossing and the officials can be very intimidating.
  • Do your homework and sound knowledgeable
