GIS In Canada ... eh!
Canadian Geographic Mapping
Canadian Geographic has developed a special website dedicated to Canadian Mapping resources. Much of the site is
is focussed on Canadian history and principles of cartography, however, the site makes excellent use of maps as visuals and
a source of navigating the website. Look for lots to come in the future from an excellent educational resource that is a
must to be bookmarked by any Canadian Cartographer or geographer. In January they issued a special 70th. Anniversary, "Mapping At The Millennium"
edition... My Dad back in British Columbia picked me up a copy!

Some things you'll find at the website:
History of Canada
Wander through the history of Canada and watch the map of the country
transform. Click on the time line or on highlighted text to switch maps.
Travel through time, from 1770 to present day. A nice use of cartography and a great history lesson.
Map Archive
Here you can purchase copies of maps that have appeared in past editions of Canadian Geographic.
They have a secure mechanism for you to purchase prior to downloading PDF files. Maps in their collection include;
Map of the 1997 Red River flood in Manitoba, The Old Canada Road, and Yonge Street, Toronto.

Map of Dunn's Crossing, B.C.
Educational Resources
A Fundamentals of Mapping Tutorial has been developed and is a great way to get novice mappers hooked on cartography.
Interactive Map
Currently in development, Interactive Map Making using ESRI technology. Make you own maps of Canada.
Do you have a favorite Canadian Mapping/GIS resource that you'd like to share? Please let me know, maybe we'll feature it in this section in the near future.
