Intergraph Announces Partnership with ThinkSpace to Incorporate Grid Analysis and Provide MFworks for GeoMedia®

New addition to GeoMedia GIS suite increases value to the geospatial enterprise

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., May 3, 1999 û Today at the International Intergraph Graphics User's Group (IGUG) conference, Intergraph Corporation (NASDAQ: INGR) announced its release of a new software solution for grid analysis, MFworks™ for GeoMedia®. GIS professionals who use grid or raster data now have the power of visualization, mapping and analysis at their fingertips. Users can take advantage of MFworks' streamlined approach to grid analysis, with its easy access to a wide range of modeling and analysis capabilities.

Intergraph has teamed with ThinkSpace û specialists in grid-based GIS solutions for business, education and government û to provide raster GIS analysis with GeoMedia. MFworks for GeoMedia is a complete grid analysis product that offers GeoMedia's rich visualization, analysis and mapping features. Grid or raster-based analysis is used to measure, model, enhance and display GIS-related data. Spatial analysis is ideal for manipulating digital terrain files, remotely sensed images or any continuously varying data, such as temperature, density, insolation, population, elevation, slope or aspect. MFworks for GeoMedia takes a grid-based approach to spatial data, dividing data into a series of cells and recording values in correspondence with the contents of each cell. Multiple maps are compared on a layer-by-layer and cell-by-cell basis. Once spatial operations are implemented, new maps are created to display the results of those measurements. MFworks for GeoMedia provides solutions for a variety of applications, including stormwater management, risk assessment, site selection and environmental impact studies. "The integration of MFworks and GeoMedia is a great example of a marriage made in heaven," said W. Fredrick Limp, director of the Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies. "Both products have a history of exceptionally strong emphasis on ease-of-use and extensive, powerful functionality. MFworks has a very powerful suite of raster analysis and display capabilities, while GeoMedia has excellent and extensive vector domain operations. The two are excellent complements in their capabilities."

Scheduled for availability in May 1999, MFworks for GeoMedia is the perfect tool for applying grid-based analysis techniques to a wide range of GIS-related projects. "The corporate relationship between Intergraph and ThinkSpace enables us to join forces and provide a powerful GeoMedia-based solution for grid analysis," said Preetha Pulusani, executive vice president of Intergraph's Mapping and GIS division. "MFworks for GeoMedia expands the application reach offered by GeoMedia-based solutions by combining robust grid analysis with the open enterprise integrator, GeoMedia. Given the demand in the market for raster-based data use and analysis, this is a significant step forward, and yet another revolutionary addition to GeoMedia's strong GIS foundation and architecture."
