 Getting to Know ArcView GIS (3.1) Test drive ArcView® GIS—the CD packaged with this introductory book includes a working demonstration copy of ArcView GIS software, a hands-on tutorial, and informative multimedia presentations. Part I of the book is a nontechnical introduction to GIS technology (available separately as the book Getting to Know Desktop GIS). Part II offers illustrated steps for using ArcView software to perform scores of GIS tasks. Readers can follow the scenario-based exercises in the text or work through them online using the data and software provided on the CD. Full-color maps and illustrations complement the book’s clear text. Readers will come away with a solid understanding of basic GIS concepts and the skills they need to embark on ArcView GIS projects of their own. Glenn's comments: This is likely one of the best introductory books you will find for ArcView GIS. If you have a friend or colleague that wants to know more about ArcView and learn at their own pace then this would be an excellent companion. Advanced users won't get alot from this tile, but for an introductory primer this one can't be beat... I have it in my collection!
